The most popular way of hiking up fourteener Pikes Peak is via the Barr Trail from Manitou Springs, CO - a challenging hike that gains over 7,500ft in elevation over 12+ miles to the summit. About 6.5 miles into the hike is the Barr Camp, which has facilities for campers that wish to break up the hike. In addition to the Barr Trail, there is a large network of trails in the area that cover a large portion of the east flank of Pikes Peak and the Pike National Forest. Expect large crowds on summer weekends in this area due to the close proximity to Colorado Springs, CO.
