About 4 miles southeast of Estes Park, CO lies the 1,362-acre Hermit Park Open Space in the rolling hills of Larimer County east of the Rocky Mountain National Park. In addition to the variety of camping options on site, this area has a network of hiking trails snaking through the ponderosa pine forested hills and wetland meadows just south of US Hwy 36. Hiking options include a trail up to Kruger Rock (9,355ft elevation) with panoramic views, a meandering trail along the hillsides on the Limber Pine Trail and a connection to the nearby historic homestead meadows area where one can visit a number of century old homesteads in the Roosevelt National Forest.
