Near Franktown, CO and a short drive east of Castle Rock, CO lies the Castlewood Canyon State Park. Unlike many Colorado state parks, this one is mostly a hiker's and climber's destination with a network of trails winding through the canyons and along Cherry Creek at the canyon floor. The Castlewood Canyon Dam also allows visitors to check out a part of Colorado's history along Cherry Creek south of Denver. With 12 miles of trails and plenty of options to put together loop hikes of varying degrees of difficulty, Castlewood Canyon is a fantastic destination for hikers. This is a fee area.
