A few minutes north of Nederland, CO is the Caribou Ranch Open Space managed by Boulder County Open Spaces. This area allows the visitor to explore a variety of landscapes including forested hills and meadows as well as a bit of history in the form an old homestead and historic mining complex - the Blue Bird Mine. There are only two trails accessed by the main trailhead off County Road 126 just north of Mud Lake Open Space including the 1.2-mile DeLonde Trail and the 1.8-mile Blue Bird Loop Trail.
