A few miles west of Walsenburg, CO in southern Colorado is Lathrop State Park - Colorado's very first state park. Visitors are usually drawn to this 1,600-acre park for water-based recreation such as boating, fishing and swimming, but there are also some short hikes in the area for those looking for some land-based natural recreation as well as two campsites in this area. This is a fee area.
