Dillon Reservoir is located in Summit County, CO surrounded by the small mountain towns of Frisco, Dillon and Silverthorne and just up the road from the popular ski resorts in Breckenridge and Keystone. The reservoir is mostly used for recreational purposes by boaters and fisherman, but there are a scattering of day hiking trails around its perimeter. The Frisco Peninsula Recreation Area has a number of mountain bike and hiking trails, including the Lakeshore Perimeter Trail which traverses the entire peninsula. Some shorter trails include the Sapphire Point Overlook Trail on the east side of the reservoir and the Old Dillon Reservoir Trail on the west.
