Colorado

Centered on the 2,500-acre Jackson lake about 60 miles northeast of Denver, CO is the Jackson Lake State Park. This area is a popular shoreline camping and water sports area east of the mountains, though there are limited opportunities for hiking except for a single trail of less than 2 miles that meanders along the western shore through the campgrounds and parking lots. The reservoir was built around the turn of the 20th century for irrigating the surrounding farmlands, and the state park was established in 1965. This is a fee area.
