The small town of Del Norte, CO - located in the western portion of the San Luis Valley - has a number of close-by local hiking areas on BLM land used by hikers and mountain bikers alike. The non-motorized Pronghorn Trails System, located just south of Del Norte on BLM land, was built in 2016 mainly for mountain biking at elevations of between about 7,880ft to 8,600ft and consists of beautiful vistas of San Francisco Creek. The Stone Quarry and Limekiln Trails Systems are located southeast of Del Norte about halfway to Monte Vista, CO and consists of a network of trails between about 7,910ft to 8,200ft in elevation.
