West of Boulder, CO in the Roosevelt National Forest are a pair of easy day hikes - the Boulder Falls Trail and Sugarloaf Mountain Trail. A short distance down Canyon Blvd/Boulder Canyon Drive/CO Hwy 119 area a number of popular rock-climbing areas as well as a trailhead for a short hike to Boulder Falls. Sugarloaf Mountain is accessed by going 4.75 miles north on Sugarloaf Road from Boulder Canyon Drive before Boulder Falls to Sugarloaf Mountain Road, where a short drive to the trailhead follows. The hike to the summit is only 2/3 of a mile to reach the peak elevation of 8,917ft.
