On the northeast edge of the Denver Metro area is Barr Lake State Park, and area that attracts water sports visitors such as fisherman and boaters, but also has something for hikers, bikers and equestrians as well. The 8.9-mile Lake Perimeter Trail is a flat, multi-use trail that follows the entire lake perimeter, and a few smaller loop trails exist for those who don't want to walk/ride that far - the Prairie Welcome Trail and Niedrach Nature Trail. There's no camping at this state park, but there is a nature center where visitors can learn about the park's wildlife. This is a fee area.
